Impact

Miguel Ferreira holds the BPI | Fundação “la Caixa” Chair in Responsible Finance with the aim to develop research and education on the important role that finance plays in societal progress and how a competitive and inclusive financial system can contribute to economic development. Topics include sustainable finance, ESG, financial literacy and household finance. The Chair's main goal is to produce high-quality research that impacts academics, policy-makers, regulators, practitioners, and society at large.

Miguel Ferreira is the Academic Coordinator of Finanças para Todos (“Finance for All”), a pioneering project in Portugal in the field of financial literacy. This project promotes the financial education of the adult population while at the same time seeking to generate research that has an impact on society.

Miguel Ferreira was the Principal Investigator on a research project on entrepreneurship as a social mobility and inclusion strategy. The project provides business training to small business owners and evaluates its impact on firm performance and productivity.

Miguel Ferreira was the Principal Investigator on a research project on how financial constraints hinder entrepreneurs and how public policies, such as unemployment insurance design, can make a difference in business creation.

Miguel Ferreira was the Principal Investigator on a research project on how financial conglomerates affect firm policies and performance and conflicts of interest within financial conglomerates.
